Not everyone who wishes to erase fine lines and wrinkles from their face desires a full facelift. Many people visit Main Line Plastic Surgery for a mini-facelift, which treats signs of aging on the lower face.
Dr. Raymond D. Jean performs mini-facelifts on patients in Philadelphia, Bala Cynwyd, Bryn Mawr, and other nearby areas in Pennsylvania. Please call 484-222-0010 to schedule your initial consultation.
What Is a Mini-Facelift?
A mini-facelift is a procedure that “lifts” only the bottom portion of your face. It targets the area from the top of your cheekbones to your chin, eliminating sagging cheeks and smile or laugh lines around the mouth. Since it is slightly less invasive than a full facelift, it requires less anesthesia and downtime, and will also provide you with more natural-looking results.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Mini-Facelift?
You may be a good candidate for a mini-facelift if you are primarily noticing signs of aging on your lower face or are already correcting forehead wrinkles with BOTOX or Dysport®. Some patients choose a mini-facelift because they only have moderate signs of aging and feel that they are not yet ready for a full facelift.
Planning Your Mini-Facelift Surgery
We will collect a health history to ensure you do not have any medical conditions that might prohibit you from receiving anesthesia. Dr. Jean will also want to know about any medications you are taking, particularly blood-thinning ones. He may ask you to abstain from those drugs as well as over-the-counter medications such as aspirin in the weeks leading up to your mini-facelift.
How Is a Mini-Facelift Performed?
Dr. Jean will inject a numbing agent into your skin so that your entire face is numb. He will then make incisions in an inconspicuous area (typically in your hairline) so that he can pull your skin, fat, and muscles tight. The procedure ends with stitches and a gauze bandage to keep the area clean and free of infection.
What to Expect* after a Mini-Facelift
You will look younger immediately following a mini-facelift, but it could take up to a week before you notice the full results.
Recovering from a Mini-Facelift
Your stitches may itch or swell over the next few days. Take care when brushing and styling your hair so as not to rip them. Follow the instructions given to you by Dr. Jean concerning changing your bandages or getting your stitches wet.
