Liposuction in Philadelphia, PA
A common exercise myth is that you can spot reduce certain areas by working them out more. The fact is that the number of fat cells in your body is predetermined, meaning that liposuction could be needed if you are to slim down problem areas. Led by Dr. Raymond D. Jean, Main Line Plastic Surgery is proud to offer liposuction to patients in Philadelphia, Bala Cynwyd, Bryn Mawr, Wayne, Upper Darby, and other nearby areas in Pennsylvania.
What is Liposuction?
Liposuction is a procedure whereby fat cells are removed from the body through a suction technique. Lipo can be performed on any area of the body where excess fat is noticed but is most often done on the thighs, hips, buttocks, and lower abdominals.
Am I a Good Candidate for Liposuction?
Liposuction could be right for you if you have recently lost a great deal of weight, yet find that certain areas are disproportionate to the rest of your body. You may also want to consider lipo if you have maintained your normal weight for some time, yet have not been successful at reducing problem areas through toning exercises.
Planning your Liposuction Surgery
Liposuction performed on the thighs or buttocks could *affect your ability to stand for extended periods. Likewise, abdominal liposuction might make it difficult for you to bend or twist. Keep these things in mind when scheduling your liposuction to ensure your *normal activities do not interfere with your recovery.
How is Liposuction Performed?
When performing liposuction, Dr. Jean will:
- Administer local anesthesia, which numbs the area where liposuction is to occur
- Make one or more small incisions in the skin
- Insert a thin tube known as a cannula into the incisions in order to “vacuum” or suction fat cells
- Gently sculpt the problem area by removing a very precise number of fat cells
- Stitch together your outer skin, using a technique that ensures it conforms to your new contours
How Much Does Liposuction Cost in Philadelphia?
Plastic surgery procedures such as liposuction are highly customized, meaning that a number of variables are used to calculate the price. In addition to payment through cash, personal check, and major credit/debit cards, we also accept CareCredit® financing. CareCredit® works like a credit card, offering low-interest rates and easily affordable payments to help you afford lipo on your terms.
What to Expect* after Liposuction
You may notice some swelling immediately following liposuction, in which case your full results will not be visible. It could take a week or so for the swelling to subside so that you can enjoy the final results.
Recovering from Liposuction
Perform *moderate walking for 20 to 30 minutes each day, as this will help alleviate swelling, promote healthy blood circulation, and speed healing. If Dr. Jean has placed a drainage tube, take care not to get it wet, and be sure to follow his instructions for changing or cleaning it.
If you exercise and eat right, yet still seem to have disproportionate body features, liposuction could be a viable solution. Contact Main Line Plastic Surgery to schedule a consultation if you live in Philadelphia, Bala Cynwyd, Bryn Mawr, or another nearby area in Pennsylvania.
