Constantly squinting or frowning can take its toll on your skin over time, leaving you with forehead wrinkles and deep creases between your eyebrows. A brow lift performed at Main Line Plastic Surgery could be the answer.
What Is a Brow Lift?
A brow lift is a procedure that is similar to a facelift in that skin is smoothed and tightened. This procedure is often referred to as a forehead lift because it targets the skin on your forehead as well as the area in between your eyebrows.
Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Raymond D. Jean performs this procedure on an outpatient basis at either the Bryn Mawr Hospital Surgical Center or the Paoli Surgery Center.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Brow Lift?
You might want to consider a brow lift if you:
- Are bothered by moderate-to-severe wrinkling on the brow or forehead
- Would like to smooth forehead skin, but prefer not to have your muscles paralyzed as with BOTOX®
- Have tried a series of dermal fillers to correct brow wrinkles in the past, and are now looking for a solution.
Planning Your Brow Lift Surgery
If possible, schedule your procedure for a time when you can take it easy for a few days afterwards. Although many of our patients return to work the next day, some feel more tired than usual or suffer from mild headaches and prefer to stay home as a result.
How Is a Brow Lift Performed?
Dr. Jean will administer local anesthesia, which will numb the upper part of your face. We can also provide you with a sedative if you are uncomfortable being awake during your procedure. Incisions are made in your hairline, typically at the temple area, allowing Dr. Jean to pull sagging skin upward and trim away any excess. The incisions are then tightened with stitches, ensuring the skin on your forehead is as smooth and uplifted as possible.
What to Expect* after a Brow Lift
You may notice that your forehead feels “tight” and that your skin is stiff whenever you frown or crease your brow. This feeling will gradually resolve itself in about a week or so, which is approximately how long it will take for you to notice your final results.
Recovering from a Brow Lift
Take care not to pull on your stitches, and use an over-the-counter medication to help you alleviate any discomfort you may feel.
