Hand Surgery in Philadelphia, PA

Many of the patients we see here at Main Line Plastic Surgery would like to reconstruct the hands or obtain relief from hand injuries. A skilled surgeon such as our own board-certified physician Dr. Raymond D. Jean is the ideal person to perform hand surgery on patients in Philadelphia, Bala Cynwyd, Bryn Mawr, and other nearby areas in Pennsylvania.

What is Hand Surgery?

Hand surgery is any procedure performed on the hands, wrists, or fingers to:

  • Correct deformities due to injury, birth defect, or disease
  • Reduce hand injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome, Dupuytren’s contracture, or ganglion cysts
  • Fill in the backs of the hands, which may become thin and frail due to aging

Most of the hand procedures offered here at Main Line Plastic Surgery require only local anesthesia and allow for your immediate release from our surgical center.

Am I a Good Candidate for Hand Surgery?

Hand surgery might be right for you if:

  • You have been diagnosed with a hand injury
  • Your hands are disfigured and cause you a great deal of embarrassment
  • A loss of volume has caused your hands to age faster than the rest of your body

Planning your Hand Surgery Treatment

Keep in mind that your range of motion may be very limited following hand surgery. As such, you could need someone to help you perform everyday tasks, such as preparing meals, bathing, and getting dressed. If your job requires a great deal of repetitive motion, you may even need to take some time off from work.

How is Hand Surgery Performed?

Each procedure is different and uniquely tailored to meet your own individual needs. Dr. Jean will discuss the exact procedure with you once he has come up with a treatment plan.

How Much Does Hand Surgery Cost in Philadelphia?

Reconstructive procedures such as hand surgery are highly customized, meaning that a number of variables are used to calculate the price. In addition to payment through cash, personal check, and major credit/debit cards, we also accept CareCredit® financing. CareCredit® works like a credit card, offering low-interest rates and easily affordable payments to help you afford hand surgery on your terms.

What to Expect* after Hand Surgery

*You may not feel much different right after hand surgery. It normally takes some time for your hands to return to normal, particularly if your procedure involves any modifications to your tendons or ligaments.* You should begin noticing some improvement within three to five days after surgery.

Recovering from Hand Surgery

*You could need to wear a hand or wrist brace or limit certain motions. Some swelling and bruising is also to be expected and can be treated with ice and over-the-counter medication. *More serious hand surgeries might require physical therapy before you can fully regain the use of your hand.
